This 1957 hay silo now enjoys a second life as a one-of-a-kind apartment building

Iceland · About Before your trip

This 1957 hay silo now enjoys a second life as a one-of-a-kind apartment building. It’s close to the natural wonders of the Golden Circle, but you’ll probably want to linger a while—the shared top floor is an observation deck that puts you just a little closer to the Northern Lights. When you’re hungry, cross the Ölfusá River to Friðheimar for a fresh meal inside a greenhouse, surrounded by the plants that provided your food. Sometimes farm to table is a very short trip.
